Night Riding in Grand Park

Grand Park is the newest park and attraction to open up in Downtown LA. It's quickly become one of our favorite places to hang out in Downtown LA! Designed by Rios Clemente Hale Studios, the park is a much needed hang out space with amazing views of City Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. We recently took our SR Bicycles out for a night ride to beat the LA heat. A wonderful gem of a space in the middle of downtown!

Lego VW Campervan

We've been eyeing the Lego VW Camper Van since it came out a few months ago, as it combines two of some of our favorite things. It's a perfect Summer project. 1332 pieces and an afternoon later, we have our own mini Camper Van. The details to the kit are amazing- fabric curtains, an engine block, seats that fold into a bed, a folding table, operable windows. It's a pure joy to build. More pics on our flickr page.

Field Research: Costanoa Part 2

We've written about how much we love Costanoa before, and we finally had the chance to go back up there this past week. Located an hour south of San Francisco, Costanoa is a perfect example of what we love about living in California. Hiking trails, seaside vegetation, camping under the stars, and canvas safari tents. The small town of Pescadero is also home to Duarte's Tavern, which serves an amazing menu full of local foods and specialties like olallieberry pie, fresh artichokes, and homemade sourdough bread.

The Scout Regalia Bicycle

Here they are! The Scout Regalia Bicycle is our "Ode To America" that combines performance with style, and design with craftsmanship.

The Scout Regalia Bicycle takes its cues from 3 distinct bicycle typologies: the English/Dutch town bike, a cycle truck, and a mountain bike. We envision this bicycle to be a functional and rideable bike for both the daily commuter and the weekender alike. The Scout Regalia Bicycle includes an internally geared rear hub, disc brakes, dyno lights, and 29" fat tires.  A two tone powdercoated finish emphasizes the front end of this American made, American inspired bicycle.

The Scout Regalia Bicycles will be on display during the Noho Design District: Hotel California event at The Standard East in New York City from Friday May 18 through Monday May 21st, and will be available on our website this summer.

For more information and to sign up to receive updates about the Scout Regalia Bicycle, visit our website.

Silkscreen on Day Glow Poster

We recently designed a poster for a benefit event to help Tim Tarbox, a friend of ours who also happens to be an amazing sign painter. We saw it only fitting to use the Sign Painter font from House Industries for the poster, which we had silkscreened here in LA on day-glow cardstock so they'll really stand out. To find out more about Tim and the benefit event, please check out his website!

Scout Regalia in Sunset Magazine

Our home/office is featured in the April 2012 issue of Sunset Magazine! We are so excited to share the story with everyone.  It's a peek into our headquarters and a look into how our live-work space is a laboratory for designing and testing new SR prototypes. Pick up a copy on newsstands now, or read the story online.

Rose Bowl Flea

It's no secret that the Rose Bowl Flea is an amazing place to score vintage finds and various tchotchkes. The flea market happens on the second Sunday of every month. There's an overwhelming number of vendors and we usually don't have the energy to go across to the clothing section of the market. So many great finds, you'll never leave empty handed!

Wooden Utensil Workshop at Knowhow Shop

The Knowhow Shop has been an great place for our prototyping and fabrication, and we love that they hold classes to expand your "knowhow" about shopwork.

We recently took the Wooden Cooking Utensil workshop they held in collaboration with Linda Hsiao. Over the course of a weekend, we created wooden utensils out of walnut and learned how to make food safe wood finishes for our new utensils. It was an awesome experience and we highly recommend checking out one of their upcoming workshops if you're interested in creating, building, or making new things. The classes are great for those with little or no shop experience as well as seasoned veterans of the shop.

Stuff We Like: Tugboat Printshop

We've admired the work of Tugboat Printshop for quite a while, and we're excited to finally have a print to hang at headquarters. Based out of Pittsburgh, PA, they create amazing hand drawn, hand carved woodblock prints. We're excited to hang their "Treehouse Lookout" print on our wall. Check out their work on their website and etsy shop!
