Art Center Studio in Quito, Ecuador

Ben recently took his Art Center College of Design students to Quito, Ecuador, where they visited with our friends over at ATU International. While there, Ben had the chance to check out the new biblioteca project recently completed by our friends and fellow Sci-Arc grads Gaby and Aaron. They also had some time to explore the City and go up to Otavalo and the mountains of Quito. Stay tuned for updates of their studio work!

We had such an amazing time in Quito, Ecuador. We will miss our friends, the wonderful people, and our phones (yes, we lost both of them), but we'll have these lovely keepsakes and our memories until the next time we visit!

Field Research: ATU International in Quito, Ecuador

 

 

 

While we were in Quito, we had the opportunity to tour our friend's family business, ATU International. As one of the major furniture companies in South America, ATU designs and fabricates their entire line in Quito. It was great to see the manufacturing process at their facility. ATU also used to design and fabricate some awesome bicycles, which were great to see on site.

We finally had the chance to visit South America when our good friends were married in Quito, Ecuador. What an amazing city. The historic center of Quito is considered a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, and we can see why.
